Do I need to acclimate my new Sarracenia Northwest VFTs to full sun and 30-50% humidity?

Question
Greetings Jeff and Jacob:

I just ordered 3 small VFTs from Sarracenia Northwest in 3-inch plastic pots.  Your website states that the plants will arrive with plastic domes (i.e. temporary terrariums) for shipping protection.  I plan to grow the plants outside (without terrarium cover) in full sun 6+ hours per day, and I'll only use distilled or rain water using the tray method of watering.  Also, upon arrival, I plan to immediately repot the plants from the 3-inch pots to new 5-inch plastic pots which I purchased with the order using your standard CP soil mix of 1:1 peat/perlite.  I live in Bethlehem, PA which is USDA Plant Zone 6b.

My questions to both of you are as follows: Do I need to go through any sort of full sun or humidity acclimation process (as described in your e-book) when the VFTs arrive?  Is there anything special I should do to the plants within the first few days after they arrive?  Due to their reputation for being slightly more difficult to grow properly (for reasons unknown to me), should I treat the 'Red Dragon' VFT variety any differently than the 'standard' or 'dente' VFT varieties?  Thank you for your time in this matter, and I look forward to your response!  =)

Best Regards,

Jennifer

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your recent order!  No, there's no need to acclimate your fytraps.  We grow our plants outdoors, so they are well accustomed to the direct sunlight and fluctuating temperature and humidity.  Their brief time in the box is negligible.

Some growers regard Red Dragon flytraps as being "more difficult" than the others only because that this variety definitely requires full sun (6 or more hours of direct sunlight).  For this reason, it grows extremely poorly indoors.  As you know, indoor growing is inadequate for flytraps.  Red Dragons just happen to be the first to die off, hence their reputation as being difficult.

But if you grow your plants in full sun, you'll quickly discover that all flytraps are very easy to grow.

Good growing!
