sulfur fungicide for sarracenia and dormancy

Question
I am getting prepared to put my plants in dormancy by using the cooler method and packaging peanuts. I found a garden sulfur fungicide by Bonide (from Earl May) but noticed the active ingrediants are 90% sulfur and 10% other which is way more sulfur then the safer brand. Would this still be ok to use. Also do you think I should mix on the heavy side or lighter side. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Chad,

I'm not familiar with this particular brand, but the percentage isn't much of an issue.  Just make sure that you use it as directed.  During the winter months, I tend to use sulfur-based fungicides rather generously during the winter months.  If you're going to use the cooler method, definitely be generous with it.  It won't harm carnivorous plants, but it will make the soil inhospitable to fungal spores.  You should also check up on your plants periodically to identify any mold or fungus that may crop up.  If you see any, you'll need to treat it immediately.  While sulfur is good, it's not 100% effective.  Usually the harsher compounds are close to 100% effective, but they are not suitable for carnivorous plants.

Good growing!
