Dente Venus Fly Trap - newbie

Question
Hi, I received my first venus fly trap (dente) from you a few weeks ago and have a few questions --

1. Is it normal for the traps to go black after they eat something? I've been cutting off the black ones and there's plenty of new growth, but I didn't know if this was normal.

2. Should I repot it now from the container it came in or wait until late winter for the first repot?

3. Will I get seeds this year? I purchased my plant in the summer, so I didn't get any spring flowers.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Yil,

1.  It's very normal.  Depending on the size of the bug, each trap captures one or two insects before dying.

2.  It's fine to repot it now.  Just be sure to leave a little soil around the roots.

3.  No flowers, no seeds.  When the plant is small it's better to cut the flower off anyway.  Once the plant is larger, it's fine to let it bloom.

Good Growing!
