Question

My Carivors
I am growing Venus Flytraps, sun dews and pitcher plants in plastic containers submerged in 1-2 inches of distilled water in full sun in Laguna Hills CA 92653
Can rocks or aquarium gravel be placed in water containers.

Answer
Hi Ray,

Yes, you can place aquarium gravel in the water containers, but it's not necessary.  The idea of using a pebble tray is to increase humidity around houseplants.  The technique is to place the pots on the pebbles and fill the tray with water up to the top of the pebbles.  That way you have a layer of water for humidity and your houseplants are not sitting in water.  In your case, it's not necessary to do this since your plants sitting in water.  But if you want to add the gravel for aesthetic purposes, you can definitely do that.  It won't harm the plants at all.

Good Growing!
