Moss identification

Question

moss
I have a couple kinds of mosses growing in my carnivorous plant pots (photo attached). I believe the left to be sphagnum moss, but what about the right (long leaves and white flowers)? Neither have seemed to present a problem, but any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Chris,

The moss on the left does look like sphagnum.  You'll be able to tell when it gets bigger.  Sphagnum always has a chunky, succulent look to it.

What you see on the right isn't a moss at all.  It is a flowering plant, another carnivore, a terrestrial bladderwort.  I couldn't see the flower color very well, but it looks like Utricularia bisquimata.  Those leaves are connected to little bladder traps under the soil that capture nematodes.  Terrestrial bladderworts are fun little cp weeds.

Good Growing!
