Heliamphora, Cephalotus, African violet pots

Question
I currently have an order in from you guys for a Heliamphora and Cephalotus. I have read your e-Book and questions you have answered on all experts and I am just looking for some reassurance that I understand everything correctly. So my questions are

?Do I understand correctly both of these plants can be planted in African violet pots?

?Will the small  African violet pots (approximately  5in- Diameter & 2.5in- Deep)  sold  Walmart be  large enough for my plants

?Will your suggested soil mixture of part peat moss, 2 parts perlite, 1 part orchid bark work in the African violet pots.

Answer
Hi Michael,

African violet pots work great for plants that like to be not quite as wet, and a little cooler.  These pots sound a little small, however, even for an African violet.  Check Lowes or Home Depot.  I've bought pots there that are larger.

The course soil media you're describing is fine.  Just monitor your plants after transplanting to see how the soil moisture seems.  The pots can vary some as to how porous they are.  I've had some of the larger ones (8") that were drier than I expected, and I had to supplement with with top watering occasionally.

Good Growing!
