systemic insect killer

Question
I just recieved and watched your DVD vol 1...awesome! One question I have, you mention that you use Ortho systemic Insect and Aphid...i went to the nursery nearby and the only systemic insect killer they had was by Green Light..and it is for tree and shrub..and its concentrate
SO is the one you used only for like smaller plants like vegetables..or will this one be fine?
And if it is fine..how would i follow the directions on the back if it is for trees adn shrubs? like how much would i apply?

Answer
Hi Matt,

I haven't used this specific brand of systemic insecticide, but I have used one produced by Bayer?(Disease Control), which has the same active ingredient as Green Light.   At this time, I can't find any information regarding the concentration of Green Light.

With a tree application, you would saturate the soil, which may mean the concentration is higher for trees than for small plants.  (With small plants, you do a simple foliar spray.)  However, since I can't find any information about the concentration, I can't provide any recommendations about dilution.  At the same time, I haven't seen any adverse affects on our plants when we use systemic insecticides.  These products are regarded safe to use on Sarracenia and flytraps.

So the only recommendation I can provide is to either look for Bayer or use the Green Light product in the doses as instructed by the manufacturer.  However, instead of pouring it in the soil, you would spray it on the leaves.  Make sure to do it in a well ventilated area.

Good growing!
