Pitcher Plant Not Blooming

Question
Hello, I have a few pitcher plants including a yellow trumpet sarracenia flava. Last spring, the s.flava bloomed, however, this year I do see a flower bud but it did not grow into a flower. (I live in NJ) Is it a bad thing that the flower won't develop? Why is this happening? Thank you.
From David

Answer
Hi David,

There are a variety of factors that affect Sarracenia flowers.  Sarracenia flava doesn't always send up flower stalks.  Even in our private collection, I noticed several mother plants that didn't produce flowers this year.  Some factors that affect flowers are winter conditions and spring weather.  Our spring was unusually cool, so it may have affected flower production.  In any case, it's not a bad thing per se if a plant doesn't flower.  Just make sure it's growing according to our recommendations to ensure that the plant remains healthy throughout the growing season.
