slugs in my pitcher plants

Question
Before bringing my green and white pitcher plants in the garage, I looked in the tubes for fun.  I found slugs in at least 3 tubes.  Is this a problem?  And for next season should I put out slug bait in my pots?

Answer
Hi Joanne,

Yes, they can be.  They will chew up new spring growth.  For some reason, Sarracenia oreophila is very prone to slug damage.  We have to heavily bait around their pools or they will shred them.  It also helps if you have them in water trays or pools where you have a large mote or water area with the plants in the middle so the slugs can't get to them.

Good Growing!
