Question
Hey guys. I will be coming to your open house in July. My question is what to do with my plants outside. I have a Flava, flytraps and dewy pines. I was wondering if I sat them in the house for the week I'll be gone or would that cause shock when I put them back out from a 79 degree house back to 110+? They will get about 3-4 hrs of direct sun in the house. Now they get 4hrs direct and I have a 50% shade cloth for the rest of the day. What would be best thanks.

Answer
Hi Jason,

The bigger question I have here is how are they getting watered while you are gone?  It seems that is the deal breaker.  If you have someone you trust to water your plants while you're here in Oregon, I'd say leave them outside.  However, if you don't have anyone to do that, water use will be much less in the house, so risking the transition shock will be the lesser of two evils.  If the plants are in the house, you might turn down your AC some also so the plants are not too cool~around 85 degrees.

Good Growing!
