Drosera Prolifera Help

Question
Drosera Prolifera
Drosera Prolifera
Hello,
I am having an issue getting this sundew looking its best. It currently has really short pale growth. I am currently growing it in a grow tent with 8bulb 2ft t5's approx one foot away. Temperature has been about 84F during the day with a drop to approx 70F at night. Humidity remains constant at 80% RH. I keep it in standing water. I don't feed it very often. Anyways, any advice on what Im doing wrong is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Jake,

It looks like it's a bit too warm for them.  Try putting a thermometer right on the soil surface when the lights are on, and see what you get.  D. prolifera likes it a little shadier than most sundews, and temps in the 70's.

Try moving the plant to further away from the tubes, or rig something that will shade it a little.  I've gotten my best looking plants with this species by having them under T-12 fluorescents (not as bright, and much cooler) in a basement that stayed around 75F all them time.  They like it cool, bright, but not full sun.  In nature they live on the forest floor in rainforest wetlands in Northern Australia.

Good Growing!
