temperate drosera

Question
my temperate sundews and dewthreads havn't been producing very much nectar lately. we have been having a heat wave lately in Sherwood Oregon, could this be why? I have been growing then in full sun, only using distilled water in a soil mix of 1 part perlite:1 part peat moss.

Answer
Hi Dillon,

This is pretty normal on hot days.  They will loose some of the mucilage, but it comes back over night.  Just make sure the pot is always sitting in water, and definitely keep it in a sunny location.  Sundews manufacture their mucilage directly from photosynthesis.

Good Growing!
