What is it? -- abnormal trap on Venus Flytrap

Strange Venus Flytrap
I found this strange looking trap on one of my Venus Flytraps a week ago. All the other traps are normal but this one almost seems "swelled" and instead of being smooth on the outside it has little "hairs"

My American Pitcher Plants and Venus fly traps grow outside in full sun for 10+ hours a day in a plastic kiddy pool with distilled, rain, and reverse osmosis water.

Here is some pictures...I hope they help.

I guess my question is "What is it?" and have you ever seen anything like this before?

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,

It's pretty common for Venus flytraps to send out a mutated trap from time to time.  I've seen some really crazy ones on our plants.  This one of yours is particularly wacky.  It's not all that abnormal, and as long as the plant is growing well, it's of no concern.  Your photo might be fun to post on one of the cp forums.  You sure you don't have some Plutonium in your peat moss? :)

Good Growing!
