Question

Sundew   I purchased my tropical sundew, Drosera capensis, from the Portland Saturday Market in late May, 2015. It has loved the sun on my windowsill, but it looks like the roots are growing out from it's soil. Should I repot my plant already? My pamphlet says replant every 1-2 years, should I transplant into a 6" pot to anticipate future growth? Some of the leaves are getting stuck together, will repotting help this too?

Hi Jillian,

Your plant looks really good.  You can transplant it to a larger pot.  5-6 inch pots will give you a nice big plant, and when it blooms you'll probably get lots of seedlings popping up from seeds falling from the seedpods after blooming.  Be sure to follow our soil recipe on the pamphlet, or order soil from us or another carnivorous plant dealer.  Potting soil will kill it.

Depending on how the plant is growing, leaves just do stick together sometimes.
