growing zuchinni

Question
Do you need more than one zuchinni plant to produce.  I have a small container garden.  Every year I have way too many squash.  This year I decided to plant only one plant.  The plant is big and healthy, but I don't see any flowers.  No flowers, no squash.

Answer
Germaine,
You don't need more than one to produce although since these are bee-pollinated, the more flowers the better for producing fruit.  But if you don't even have flowers yet, your problem isn't pollination, but nothing to pollinate!  Maybe it's early in your area (I don't know where you are) or the weather is still too cool for good flower production.  Occasionally, a zucchini either doesn't produce female flowers or those it does produce don't get pollinated.

Since you've had too much in the past, it's clear that your plants get enough sun and you are good with the watering, fertilizing etc.... you clearly know what you're doing.

I've never heard of a plant not producing any flowers at all, however, so I'd just stay with it for a couple of weeks and see if flowers appear. If they don't, get back to me, OK?
all the best,
C.L.
