Apple tree - - White powder on branches


Question
Northern California.  Tree is about twenty years old.  The white powder is only on branches and is easily washed off with hose.  Has only been happening in the last few years.
Has been dormant sprayed. Doesn't seem to affect fruit.  What to do???

Hi Allen                                                        How r u?It sounds like u r infested with[ WOOLEY APPLE APIDS]wHICH would like like white fuzz ,but is a insect.They have waxey layer on them that makes it hard 4 a dormant oil 2 work.They can due damage to the branches n cause a fungus on the apples.Have your guys treat them with conserve 2sc so u can eat the apples.Check this web site out if want more info http//www.nysipm.cornell.edu/factsheets/treefruit/pest/waa/waa.np    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
