Spider plant disease

Question
I have a spider plant that looks like the leaves are now lace. The plant is quickly turning brown and dying.  What has gotten onto my plant? And should I be worried about any plants nearby.

Answer
Sounds like there is an insect involved.  The symptom is called "skeletonized tissue" where the bug feeds on the epidermis of the leaf and leaves only the inner leaf tissue giving it a netted or thin papery appearance.  I would get some Safer's Insecticidal Soap and treat the plant once every 4-5 days and see if the new growth looks normal.  I hope this helps fix the problem.  Good Luck.
