germination bamboo seed

Question
Do you get bamboo seed that takes six years to germinate?

Answer
Hi Ampie, There are many many types of bamboo which grows in all different types of climates.  There is running bamboo, which I suggest should be kept in a pot and watched closely as it is a rampant spreader.  The other is clumping bamboo which can be controlled.  As there are so many types of bamboo I have no idea what kind takes six years to germinate.  I have 53 plus varieties here at my nursery and have started none from seed.  I did have a variety come up on it own from seed and in one year is is 2 ft tall.  So do much research before you jump into bamboo growing.  kathy
