Boxwood leaves turing brown...

Question

Dying Boxwood
James,
We have several mature boxwoods in our yard that are probably 9 years old.  Since we moved in only a short while ago I just had the chance to trim and shape them. It has been 3 weeks since I did this and now out of 5 bushes one of the bushes leaves have turned brown.  This bush seems to be dying while the ones around it are all greened back out with new growth.  Do you have any ideas of what could have caused this and what I might do to keep from losing this shrub?  Thank you.

Answer
Great picture!  For some reason this one went into shock as a result of the trimming.  There is really no way to tell.  It was probably sick to begin with and the trimming was more than it could bear.  It will probably come back nicely.  You may want to check the soil arounf this one.  Maybe standing water or an accidental pile of fertilizer directly touching the base or roots.  You can try aereating the soil underneath it too with a long screwdriver or rod.

James
