Honeysuckle plant disease

Question
Our honeysuckle plant gets this problem each summer.  Leaf yellowing starts, and quickly the leaf becomes solidly deep yellow, with one edge burnt dark brown.  The remaining yellow leaf curls around the brown part, and eventually the leaf falls.

We also get spider mites, but I've been using rose food with a systemic bug killer and it seems to help with the spider mites.    The other disease has me stumped.  Thanks for any help.  Esther

Answer
Esther:
The yellowing/browning type symptoms often occur as a result of root/soil related stress, rather than an infectious disease. You may wish to monitor moisture levels in the soil, especially during the hot/dry and windy conditions that may be present during the summer. The soil needs to be moist, but not overly wet. A soil test may also be useful to ID any potential fertilizer imbalances. Check w/your local garden center/nursery about getting a soil test done.

Steve
