Does Hosta lillies cause or attract flies??

Gail, the only insects that are attracted to hostas are snails and slugs.  If left uncontrolled, they will eat holes in the foliage, leaving the plant with a swiss cheese appearance.  Slugs can be controlled with slug pellets and iron phosphate.
