Question
I saw a mouse in my house I have two cats as well they couldn't catch it, do the cat's smell or presence can keep the mice away? or make them go away?

I know cats eat mice generally but that can cause any problems such as particular illness for the cat?

Thank you for your help
Chiara

Answer
As you have discovered, house cats are useless against mouse infestations. The reasons are quite simple. Mice reproduce fast and can live where cats can't reach them, as in attics and walls. The fact you saw a mouse is a bad sign as it often means mouse populations have increased to such a level that they are spilling over from between the walls and have to search for new areas.

To learn about controlling mice visit http://icwdm.org Look under solutions then problem animals there will be plenty of information there.
