Microscopic worm-like bugs

Question
We found tiny little worm-like bugs in our inter-office mailboxes the other day and have no idea what they were.  They were black, microscopic, inched like a worm, but had webbing.  After we saw a few, we noticed a ton of them throughout the mailboxes.  While contemplating what to do about them, the next day they vanished, almost without a trace.  Our Secretary who was off that day thinks we are crazy, but they left a little bit of webbing behind, or else I might think I am going a little crazy.  Can you please identify what these bugs are and what happened to them?  Thanks.

Answer
Chris,

I think these were probably newly hatched moth larvae. Moths lay eggs in large masses, sometimes hundreds of eggs. These masses hatch into small larvae, often associated with a fine webbing. My guess is the larvae dispersed during the night or were cleaned away. Did you notice any moths flying around the office prior to this?
