Annoying Bugs on my trampoline!

Question
Hi, for the past couple of weeks ever since it has started to get lighter in the evening and so on, there has been these extremely annoying flying insects on and above my trampoline (which i like to spend alot of time on) Basically they look a bit like dragonflies but there not, they have black and white stripes and seem to have a tail which sort of like splits into two hair like things. They also have a pair of transparent wings. When they are actually on the trampoline they wriggle like worms and im thoroughly confused. When I actually begin to jump on the trampoline they dont fly away they seem to come closer to me and attack me in some way. I would really like to get rid of them and any help would be much appreciated,
Thank You

Answer
James,

These sound like mayflies (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayfly for a picture). Mayflies emerge from bodies of water so if you are near a pond/lake that's likely the origin. They are harmless and typically have a relatively short period of emergence so should be gone in a few days-weeks.
