Pests in Windows

Question
Jack,
I am staying with my grandmother in the Green Bay area and today I noticed a white nest in one of her windows (between the screen and the glass). It is around 2?3" and looks a bit like a piece of foam. As I mentioned, the outside is white but the interior looks to be black. In addition to the nest, there is also a black residue on each of the wood window frames and an abundance of spiders throughout the house (I am not sure if either will help you in the identification process but I figured more information couldn't hurt). We have an exterminator coming later in the week but I was hoping to at least be able to tell my grandmother what is going on before then. Could you please help us with identifying the nest? It would be very much appreciated.

Answer
Jacqueline,

There should be a button on the question page where you can upload a single image (are you getting an error message?). I can't give you a complete answer without seeing the nest. However, from your description I'd guess this is an egg mass rather than a nest, possibly from a moth.
