Using Round-up on Bermuda grass

Question
Can RoundUp be sprayed on Bermuda grass(Without killing it!) when the Bermuda is dormant and there are no green sprigs at the base of the grass plants?

Answer
Hi Gerry Smith,

You might be able to spray for weeds in a dormant Bermuda lawn in JANUARY when it is generally totally dormant, ...but you risk causing dead-spots in your lawn any time after mid-winter.  It is a risky process for any lawns below zone 6-7.  Even if there is just a tiny bit of green in the stolons, it will get killed and the dead-spots can last for months.  So, unless you live in the far North and feel certain it is dead-dormant, I do not recommend you use a Glyphosphate formula for early weeds,...You'd be safer to use 2-4-D or any post-emergent chemical at this time of year.
Good Luck!
