Why is my grass dying

Question
I have only been my house for about 3 months. When i moved in the grass was in great shape with just a few spots of yellow that I was told was from the previous owners dog. In the last two months I have started to get yellow patchs in my yard that have got very big and spreading fast. I have also noticed some mushrooms and bugs in the yard that were not there before. Also my front yard has a yellow color to it and all the people on my street have a nice green lawn. What should I do

Answer
Hi joshua;
Dem lil mushrooms mean you have a fungus.
Treat the lawn with a fungicide.
If you are on an organic program, mix baking soda with water and thoroughly soak the yard. If you are using a chemical lawn program, treat with a fungicide. Funginex was the best chemical fungicide I found, when I was using chemicals.
The bugs? It would depend on what kind of bugs they are.
I have always had dogs verywhere I lived, and I have never had grass yellow from dog urine. I think it is a mistake, and the dog is being blamed for another condition.
Certainly in your case, it can't be the dog of the previous owners. The urine would have been washed out of the soil before now.
I am betting on a fungus being the culprit.
