unpacking a compacted lawn

Question
We have recently had an nground pool built and all of the crews as
well as the digger wer brought up the side of my yard.  Needless to
say my lawn is now compacted and out of level in those areas.
What is the best way to get my yard level and back to normal?  I
was thinking about tilling up the whole area, rollng it back down
and sodding.  By the way I live in Dallas.

Thanks

Answer
Tilling the soil to a dept of 8-10" is a good idea if you need to grade, too. Rake smooth with a large wide rake (landscapers rake). You can rent one at the same equipment rental stores which rent roto tillers, or tents for parties.

Best result you will have if you allow the soil to settle. Rake smooth and water well. Then wait. Repeat a few times. This will allow any hills/valleys to settle. You can also rent a landscapers roller and roll the soil before watering to compact it mildly (not as bad as your compaction before).

Make sure the surface is flat and even to avoid a bumpy lawn later. However, make sure there is a gentle slope away from buildings (towards street, etc). A 1" drop for 10 feet is fine.

If you felt the above answer helped you, can I ask you to rate my reply accordingly. Thanks in advance.
