Weed and Feed (Scotts Weed control)

Question
My landscaper applied weed and feed to my grass before watering.  Prior to that I read the instructions and it said to apply when grass is moist so that treatment will stick to the weeds.  My landscaper insisted that it will still be affective if I water the lawn right after.
Will this application still work properly?

Answer
Weed and Feed?  More toxic waste from Scotts?  O.K., choose your poison.  Here's your answer:

Weedkillers as you point out are supposed to be applied to a damp Lawn, to stick, and then left alone -- undisturbed by rain, watering, mowing or traffic for 24 hours.  In the case of Scotts 'Turfbuilder With Plus 2 Weed Control', this stuff works by being ON the leaves.  It has to stay in contact the whole time.  Right on the leaves, a full 24 hours, undiluted, so that the poison can be absorbed into the plant.

Now, if you don't water the Grass first, the poison won't stick as well as it's supposed to on the leaves.  And then, compounding the problem, say if it rains out of the blue, or you or the landscaper decides to water AFTER it's down because you didn't water first, you have washed the poison off the leaves, right into the soil, wasting all that poison.  By the way, haven't you heard that there are side effects to these products?  Don't you have a problem with this stuff?  Do you have a problem with wildlife?  fish?  birds?  earthworms and other birdfood?  Don't you know any other way to do this?

The fertilizer included in this product will work -- it will wipe out the microbes in the soil (bet you don't know what those are), but it will force feed your Grass just like you want.

But since the fertilizer is down, you can't re-apply this product or anything like it.  In fact, you can't put down ANYTHING with fertilizer plus weedkiller.  Not for at least another 6 weeks.  You're just the customer for Ortho Weed B Gon MAX.  It will give you exactly the 'affect' you want.

Weed and Feed?  If I get any more questions on this, I'm going to get ulcers.  Let me know when you finally learn this is a bad idea.  Good luck until then.
