Alfalfa Meal on New Seed Bed

Question
Hi Charlotte,

First of all thank you for your help!  I wanted to clarify and make sure it is safe to put down alfalfa meal on new seeds and young emerging grass?  Is it as safe as the sugar I have been throwing them? :-)  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jenny;
ALL the organics are as safe as the sugar.
They won't interfere with germinating, won't burn if you get too much. You don't have to apply them at just the right time for them to work.
The alfalfa is jusy ground up alfalfa like they feed to horses etc.
It is greenish, and you can smell it, and then you know it is just ground up alfalfa.
The sugar feeds the micro-organisms, the alfalfa just puts a few more nutrients in the soil to help things green up and grow.
Alfalfa meal is especially good for flowering plants. It encourages more and larger blooms.
Charlotte
