Question
Hi C.J.  I just removed Ivy in my front yard and I want to replace it with a grass I think is called Mondo grass. I'm looking to replicate the grass I see on the sides of a freeway here, it is very deep green and looks lumpy but smooth and I guess never needs mowing.  I live in the west one mile from the coast.  Would this make a low maintenance, drought resistqant lawn? Thanks Lance

I don't think Mondo grass is the way to go. Mondo grass is typically used as an ornamental grass, and it will grow about 9 - 10 inches tall.

I think you may be thinking of Buffalo grass. You might want to look into that.
