How to safely kill stickers in my bermuda grass

Question
I just bought this house in march of this year and have been trying to get my lawn whipped in to shape.Just here in the last month or so i have noticed stickers coming up in my lawn and i spend hour upon hours on my hands and knees pulling sticker plants up and they show back up in a few days. What is a safe way to kill them with out hurting my lawn.I have read about the sugar thing for other weeds will this work for my problem to.

Answer
Here is something novel I found at plantanswers.com
"If you do not catch the sand burs until the burs are formed you can still prevent a lot of misery by 揷ollecting?the mature burs. Visit your local carpet store for a remnant piece. A piece 3 feet wide and 6 to 8 feet long is especially effective when dragged behind the riding lawn mower".
I need not add that you should not have the blade engaged during this activity. Sand burs are a nuisance when they flower. You can prevent this by mowing as often and as regularly as it takes to cut off the flowers before they mature.
I have no knowledge, experience or opinion as to the effectiveness of sugar in a weed control program.
