Removing scrub trees

Question
I have a chain link fence around our property and have many "scrub" trees that have been allowed to grow for far too long.  Along with these I now have a large grapevine and a couple other rogue ivys.  What is the best way to remove them and is there a way to rid them for good?  The trees are anywhere from 1" to 5" at the base.   Best to use a chain saw or reciprocating saw?

Answer
Hi Jean,

Cutting down the trees (with whatever is handy, chain or reciprocating or good old fashioned tree saw) is the way to go.  For the vine, you can cut at the base and then wait for it to die off, that's the easiest way to tear it down.  You can use vine killer if you aren't in danger of hitting anything else with the spray and that will prevent the grow back to some extent, but at the end of the day you'll just have to watch out for the new growth to keep it under control.
