Lawn Genie ticking solenoid

Question
I have lawn genie irrigation system that came with my home, I estimate it is about 5 years old.  Recently my system has started making a loud electrical or water pressure noise near the solenoids.  Several days later the pipes under the house started clanking.  Pressure is good, but I imagine the clanking noise seems to be a pressure issue (the pipe clanking has gone away).

Things I have done so far:

1. Put a new gasket and plastic piece in the backflow valve.
2.  Replaced one of the solenoids (still makes ticking noise).
3.  Ran new wiring directly from control panel to solenoid (still makes ticking noise).

The system still does not work when I operate it from the control panel, but works fine if I operate it manually.

All that appears to be left is to replace the control panel.  Could this be the problem, perhaps low voltage?  Someone told me that if the control panel still worked (i.e. programing function worked) that this wouldn't be the problem.  But it seems to be the only thing left.  One other thought I had, is if there is someway to repressurize the system, by opening all the valves in a certain sequence, and closing them a certain way.  Any of your thoughts are appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Try removing the power from the controller for about 3 minutes, including any battery backup, then restore power and reprogram the controller.  Since there is a noise coming from the solenoid, my guess is that it is an electrical problem.  Also check all the wiring connections, make sure they are secure.  Otherwise, look at a new controller.
