Habanero plant vs winter

Question
I live in San Antonio, Texas
I have a habenero pepper plant in a pot that had 1 fruit when I received it as a gift and throughout the last 2 months I'd get 1 blossom and it would drop. We just had weather in the 30's after 80-90's so I brought the pot in & realized it is blooming like crazy. (50-75 blooms). I want to keep it inside and need to know what kind of grow light,(will flourescent be okay) how many hours per day should it be on, etc. I added 'Miracle-Gro Soil' to the 3 gallon pot 2 mos. ago, as there was only about a 1/2 gallon soil in it to begin with. Thank you for any info you can give me.

Answer
Candy, the plant will need 10-12 hours of simulated daylight per day. I would highly recommend in investing in a gro-lite; a fluorescent light that simulates sunlight and is used exclusively for indoor plants.

In regard to fertilizer, you want to use a water-soluble fertilizer that is high in phosphorus. This is the second of the three numbers listed on the front of the package. Apply the solution once every ten days.

Finally, water deeply and only when needed. Shallow watering results in the roots reaching for the surface. This weakens the plant and reduces production.

I hope this answered your question. Please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
