planting tomatoes next to oleander

Question
I have cherry tomatoes growing in a container with marigold and a small oleander shrub.  Are the tomatoes o.k. to eat?  I know that oleander is poisonous, but didn't know for sure if the tomatoes are safe to eat when grown next to one.

Answer
Remove the tomatoes, Lynn. Plant them in a very large pot by themselves, with a good tall support. Use good fresh soil to fill the pot. Most of the cherry tomato plants get very large. And will not do well if they must share their pot with something as large as a oleander.

But, I know that isn't your question, and the answer to your question is no, the tomatoes will not be poisonous. Only the oleander is poisonous when you eat it. You can leave the marigolds with the oleander.
