avacodo plants

Question
I have my plant in a large pot outside,it took off really good and still is. I just want to know when i can put it in the ground.  I live in west Texas and didn't want to plant it in the ground just before winter is it ok to leave it in the pot till next spring or can i plant it now it gets alot of sun and water every Saturday (pot drains well) I don't know anything about grafting but it would be great to get fruit from it one day.  thanks for your help

Answer
If you have a good location for it, then you can plant it now. The question is whether it is too large for the pot. If the pot drains well, then it sounds like it would not be a problem. You probably won't see fruit for a few years. They are slow to produce. But the sooner you plant it, the sooner it will grow large enough to produce fruit.
Give it plenty of room. It will get very large.
