Hybrid musk rose (Rosa 'Ballerina') ROE-sah Genus:  Rosa This showy rose produces a pastel cloud of small pink flowers with lighter centers. The blossoms are single and shallow-cupped; they occur in large, loose clusters. Blooms hold up better in partial shade. This rose grows from 4 to 6 feet tall and wide, blooming from spring to autumn.  Noteworthy Characteristics:  Hybrid musk roses are usually fragrant, blooming from June through October. They are ideal for borders or hedges, and make excellent companions to herbaceous perennials. They can tolerate more shade than most roses.  Care:  Grow in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Provide good air circulation and remove fallen leaves to help prevent disease.  Prune lightly or back by up to one-third, reducing side shoots by one-half to one-third. To renovate, prune one in four or five shoots from the base. Propagation:  Take softwood cuttings when bloom initiates in spring to summer; take hardwood cuttings in fall.
