Tickseed (Coreopsis rosea 'Sweet Dreams') kor-ee-OP-sis ROSE-ee-ah Genus:  Coreopsis The bicolored, white-tipped and raspberry-centered blooms are large (1 to 1.5 inches across) and long lasting. Flowers cover the mound of grassy foliage for weeks in summer and early fall. This hybrid does not produce seed. Noteworthy Characteristics:  'Sweet Dreams' can spread rapidly by rhizomes. The blooms are attractive to bees and butterflies.   Care:  Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It requires steady moisture. Trim back in late spring to keep plants upright, and again in late summer for fall rebloom.  Propagation:  Divide in early spring or root basal cuttings in spring. Problems:  Slugs, snails, bacterial spot, rust, Botrytis flower blight, aster yellows, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and fungal spots.
