Indoor Garden – Still In Existence

All the surfaces that you plan on using for indoor garden must be protected against water damage and the spillage of soil. Plastic trays can be used under plant containers; a sheet of flexible plastic or a drop cloth can be placed under stands or larger planters. The soil used should be of good quality and contain the nutrients the houseplants need for about eight to ten weeks. Plants that grow for a longer period of time will need some fertilization and a water-soluble type recommended for particular plants should be used. Compost can also be added or fish emulsion to the soil for added nutrients. The organic fertilizers give fruits and vegetables much better flavor and are better for everyone and the man-made fertilizers contain high levels of minerals that houseplants or indoor garden plants need for growth. Because houseplants can absorb nutrients through its leaves there is a spray that can also be used.

There are some interesting issues that indoor garden may bring to an individual’s life when using grow lights. The most interesting one is that law enforcement may occasionally take an interest in an individual’s house due to increases in local temperature (police helicopters see houses with a lot of indoor plants on thermo graphic cameras, which signals marijuana growing), so it may not be a bad idea to let the local police what is going in case complaints do come up. Otherwise, growing own plants is a great idea, and can save hundreds in food bills each year, especially while managing to grow a good mix of vegetables, herb plants, and spices. It should be ensured that your water frequently and pay electric bills, and it should just be done fine.

With the surge of popularity for more organic foods, consumers have been looking for ways to grow some of their food inside. For urban people that have no yard, but sometimes have an unused room or two, or even an empty garage, can sometimes have the extra space to grow food, but lighting is always an issue. For those trying for indoor garden, LED grow lights is a great way to provide the proper light to the plants.

Fluorescent grow lights can grow plants indoors, but produce much smaller plants and are generally considered to be far inferior to both metal halide and high pressure sodium grow lights. Fluorescent lights are most often used with seedlings or clones, as the light produced is gentler on fragile plants.

Metal halide grow lights should be used for the vegetative stage of plant growth. Metal halide grow lights will produce strong light in the blue and white spectrum which effectively mimics a typical summer day. High pressure sodium grow lights will produce strong light in the red spectrum which mimics the angle of the sun during fall. When plants are ready to start flowering one should switch from metal halide grow lights to high pressure sodium grow lights.
