How-to Editorial: Information About Orchids Plus More

There are over 30,000 types of orchids, and almost four times as many orchid hybrids. Because the natural orchid flowers have so many distinct variations, their silk counterparts are also as numerous. One of the defining features of an orchid is the semi-symmetrical patterns of leaves. The actual flower is also semi-symmetrical, and most have more than one color, combined in beautiful, sharply contrasting designs. One caution when using orchids in your flower arrangements: make them the leading flower in your layout. Many common arrangements have orchids flowing over the basket or vase, standing tall in the center, or surrounded by other greenery. Most orchids are very vivid-looking, but you can find orchids in pretty much any color you can think of. Orchids are a good choice for home decor because they look right for almost any season.

Improving the Look of Your Home Even Before You Decorate It

The whole point of interior decorating is to make our houses look beautiful and feel comfortable to live in. Now as we all know, life can have a funny way of constantly getting in the way of that goal. It is easy to think about changing the decorations within our home when we want to improve the look of our house. However, some changes in how we keep our houses clean can do just as much. One simple way to efficiently keep your house clean is to put a list of chores together that includes tasks needing to be done a few times a year. Then, rather than having to dedicate a whole day or week to these chores, take twenty or thirty minutes a couple days each month and take care of them. Second, get the family involved: having a neat home is everyone’s responsibility, not just yours, and giving out specific assignments lets everyone finish faster. Finally, when you organize a container or closet, use labels: that way, you never have to waste time wondering where something has been or should be put.

Tropical Dcor

Themes are common ways to coordinate dcor items when redecorating specific areas of your house. In addition to seasonal themes, it is very easy to find decorative ideas for themes based on certain environments. If you decide to use the very popular tropical look, there are a few basic things you can do to instantly create that mood. Greenery is a must! Use plants that have very large, lush green leaves. You can also add glamorous-looking flowers with intense colors"and it wouldn’t hurt to include a palm tree or two! Some restraint is necessary to create a tropical look: you want it to be lush and colorful, but not overpowering. For example, as background colors or foliage you can use quieter or slightly darker hues. And remember, nature is always your best guide with this theme.

Decorating with Artificial Roses

It is a growing trend in weddings to see more and more silk flowers among the decorations. Roses by far are the prominent silk flower selection for weddings. However, roses are not just for weddings anymore: increasingly, they are being used as home dcor. The popularity of silk roses is due to the fact that they are very long-lasting, and the likeness is very realistic. Silk roses will last anywhere from a couple years to decades, depending on the care that is given them. Roses can be displayed in a variety of ways, from a garland wrapped around curtains to a silk rose arrangement for the dining room table. When roses are placed in a flower arrangement, be sure to angle them so that they can be seen from any point in the room. Adding a scent to your roses also gives your home a nice touch.
