The Most Popular Mothers Day Flowers

Every year Mothers Day acts as a reminder of all the hard work and love that our mothers have shown us. It is a reminder that we should give thanks to our mothers for all their love and devotion, and one of the most popular and traditional ways to show our love is to give flowers.

They may go in and out of style, but Carnations are the flowers that have the longest standing relationship with Mothers Day. A traditional flower, whose red variety symbolises love and admiration, and whose pink variety acts as a grateful thank you.

Nothing says I love you more than a red rose, and as such roses are incredibly popular at Mothers Day. However, their many colours signify different meanings, such as fidelity and faithfulness in pink, purity and virtue in white, and strong devotion in yellow.

The cheerful looking Daisy has long been a popular bouquet addition, and its larger variety, the Gerbera, makes a wonderfully colourful statement within a bouquet. Sunflowers are equally cheery and represent sunshine, warmth and happiness.

The tulip comes in many colours and is always a popular easter or Mothers Day flower. Its colour signify everything from love and care in pink, purity in white, love in red and warmth and happiness in yellow.

Violets, the flower of the Greek goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite, has long symbolised faithfulness and devotion, and your mother will love this sentiment as well as their gorgeous purple flowers.

Orchids are now so popular as plants for the home that you will no doubt have seen them in your local supermarket. Remarkably easy to care for, they also make wonderful additions to floral bouquets. Their delicate petals represent fertility and love.

Adding Lilies to your bouquet will not only help to make your bouquet look more dramatic and give it a powerful and beautiful scent, but you will also be sending a message of love and virtue, and if you choose the Day Lily variety, the traditional Chinese symbol of motherhood too.
