Wire Compost Bin For Small Gardens

Having a small garden shouldn't limit your creativity and your desire for gardening as you can do everything you want in a small garden similar to when you have a big garden. The same thing goes with composting in a limited space and with a large place. There are many methods that can be used when planting without the appropriate working space.

One of the most popular and inexpensive method of composting for gardening in small areas is by using a wire compost bin. This process of composting requires only simple materials to make. Aside from the advantage of being able to save your money through its inexpensive materials, you will also save more time and effort as it only takes you a couple of minutes to build one. As compared to concrete types of compost structures which take hours to finish, you can make as many as you want in a matter of minutes.

You will find below the tools that you will need when making a wire compost bin:

Wire Mesh - This is what basically forms everything in your bin structure.

Wood - Although these are not necessarily important, some gardeners prefer on using wood as posts for additional support to the wire compost win.

Wire cutter - This is the only and most important tool that you will need as you will have to cut your wire mesh to your desired length.

Wire - This is optional as you can always use the end of your wire mesh to intertwine and fasten both ends of your wire compost bin.

First, you need to measure your desired size of compost bin in diameter and make sure that it is not too small or too big. Open the wire mesh and lay it on the ground. If you are having a hard time on measuring or setting up the wire mesh to your desired diameter, you can put it on the ground and walk on it until it becomes controllable.

When everything is all set you can start cutting the wire mesh to the length that you want. When cutting the wire mesh though be careful as not to hurt yourself by cutting your fingers or any part of the body as the ends of the wire mesh are sharp and pointed after cutting. That's why it's best to put on your safety gears such as your safety eyeglass or goggles, hand gloves and your working clothes.

After you have cut each end you can now tie them by using a wire or twine. Some gardeners use both ends of the wire mesh and strap to each other as this is stronger than when you use wire.

You can now place your wire compost bin near your garden for an easy access when you have the finished product. You can now start filling the compost bin with your organic stuffs such as your fruit and vegetables wastes, garden wastes, kitchen wastes and all kinds of organic stuffs that you can put on.
