Instructions For Replacing A Shower Head

Are you interested in having one of the new modern day shower heads? If yes then you can change your old shower head with a latest model in just 30 minutes. After switching to a new and better model, you will actually enjoy bathing. Here we will focus on various instructions for changing a shower head.

You need some pluming tools for setting up new shower head like adjustable pliers, plumbers tape, masking tape, a new shower head, large towel or a piece of cardboard. Purchase these tools if you don’t have, so that you can easily complete your task.

You can choose a shower head from eco-friendly, water-limiting nozzles and spa type showers. All these showers have unique features. Before starting the replacement process, cut down the water supply of shower head by turning off the faucet and the main valve (located behind the shower).

Using adjustable pliers unscrew the old shower head from the shower stem. You need to revolve the old shower head in anti-clockwise direction till the time it is out from stem.

Start cleaning the threads of shower stem, once you have removed the old shower head. Any piece of tape or any other waste thing in shower stem can cause loose seal packing and results in leakage. So ensure that you have properly cleaned the stems, you can also use a paper towel for this purpose.

Now wrap any commercial plumber’s tape around the threaded fitting for a watertight seal. Normally, Teflon Tape is considered to be a good choice for this task. While applying the Teflon tape it is important to note that you wrap it in the direction in which you will screw the shower head onto the shower stem. If you do not do this, the tape will bunch up and tear when you screw on the new shower head assembly. This may result in leaks.

Once you are done with tapping of shower stem, next step is to fix the new shower head at threaded pipe and rotate it in clockwise direction. While rotating take care that you rotate it till the point it gets tightened, over rotation can cause a leak in the shower.

The last step is to check the connection you have done by turning on the water supply. Check properly that your shower head is working well or not and enjoy your new shower.
