We Are Climbing Jacobs Ladder in Our Online Nursery

Jacob's Ladder

The name Jacob's Ladder came from the Greek word - polemos which means war. The Jacob's Ladder is a gorgeous plant that thrives in part shady area, if you give it too much sun then it looks yellow and dingy losing its flare and appeal. Many homeowner's use this plant around Koi ponds and backyard ponds because the way it rapidly spreads between 18-36 inches and blooms mainly in shades of blue. The Jacob's Ladder also can be found in a white variety but the blue is most popular.
The Jacob's Ladder grows well in zones 3-4 so make sure you check your zone before purchasing. The Jacob's Ladder is a good plant for the early summer flower garden and when planting should be planted between 12-18 inches apart for a good even coverage.

This type of plant grows best in moderately fertile soil with higher organic matter and the soil needs to be well drained otherwise it will shorten the life span of the plant rapidly and quickly.

There are several different types of Jacob's Ladder some can grow very rapidly and if left unattended it can make for a very weedy garden. That's why it looks so great around ponds and in natural areas because it spreads and all you can see is the green and light white striped leaves with blue flowers on it. It works great to fill in spaces. The Blue Pearl is another form that is shorter and lasts longer because it can live in various kinds of soil.

The White Pearl, Pink Beauty, Lambrook Mauve and the Stairway to Heaven is a just a few other varieties but the blue one seems to be the most popular because the color is so rich and deep which really stands out among the green leaves.

Believe it or not, when you invest in this plant if you have a cat and can't seem to find it, chances are it is in the Jacob's Ladder because cats seem to love the plants to roll in and frolic in. The cat loves them but can harm or bruise your plants if not careful.
