Wedding Orchids

When people plan a wedding, talk about a wedding, or remember a wedding, what is one element they remember most?  Very often, it's the wedding flowers.

Orchids have been very popular wedding flowers for many years.  With all the varieties, colors and sizes that are available now, the bridal couple can find the perfect wedding orchids to make their happiest day absolutely perfect.

The flowers that are chosen for the bouquets and the tables can make a huge impact and set the tone for the event.  With their exotic beauty, orchids enhance the air of sophistication and elegance that every bride and groom want at their wedding.

Orchids can be used beautifully and dramatically in the bride's bouquet, the bridesmaids' bouquets, and the mothers' bouquets too.  The scent and colors of orchids help to make them the perfect wedding flowers.

Since many wedding bouquets are predominantly white or close to white, white or cream orchids are an elegant choice.  Also, orchids with a very light scent can be used, so the lady carrying the orchids will not be overwhelmed or distracted from the beauty of the ceremony by the scent of her bouquet.

Also, wedding attendants who suffer from flower allergies should have a much easier time with orchids than with many other flowers. They can also be made into beautiful and unusual boutonnieres for the men in the wedding!

Something else to keep in mind in a wedding is that flowers have different meanings, and they symbolize different emotions or qualities.  For example, roses suggest the emotion of love.  Blue hydrangeas stand for friendship and loyalty; daisies and lilacs embody innocence.

Centuries ago, a young lady could send a bunch of specially-chosen flowers to a suitor, and the flowers the lady chose would hold as much meaning as the note she would send with them.  By the same token, the flowers that are chosen for a wedding send a message.

Although in daily life most people don't think about the meanings that flowers represent, a wedding is a perfect time to remind ourselves of these gentle symbols and meanings.  Orchids stand for beauty, and every bride and groom want to surround themselves with beauty on their wedding day.

Orchids can mean the beauty of traditions, the beauty of the couple's loving relationship and the beauty they hope to find in their new life together.  These things make the orchid a perfect wedding flower.

Orchids are splendid as the focal point of the table centerpieces.  There are so many varieties that several types of the flower could be used, but they would all look wonderfully different.  They are hardy flowers, so shipping them to the venue should not bother them at all, provided they are not exposed to too much cold air.

They are perfect for summer weddings, since they enjoy warm temperatures.  Also, they are available year round.  There are very tall varieties of orchids, so they can be used very dramatically in your centerpieces, with the tall varieties leading the eye upwards, and the shorter varieties beautifully decorating the center of the table itself.

Orchids can be arranged in bobeches to curl around tall candles, which lends an air of delicate charm.  A lovely orchid or two can be the focal point for the throwing bouquet.  The lucky attendant who catches it can dry the orchid as a memento to last for years beyond the event.

The exotic and lovely orchid, with its hardiness and charm, is a perfect choice for a wedding.  A bride and groom can create a lovely day and a lifetime of memories with orchids as their wedding flowers.
