Dead Grass over my Septic Bed

Question
We laid sod down over our septic bed 3 summers ago.  Last summer we had very hot and  dry conditions - couldn't keep the lawn green - the  grass died over our septic bed - didn't worry, thought it would come back this summer - it's not coming back, in fact when you rake it - chunks pull up - looks like there are no roots left?  HELP!!

Answer
Hi Christina, From what you've said, I must assume the grass just died from lack of water.  I don't think it has anything to do with the septic tank.  I'd till it under and sod (or seed) again.
There could be other causes...disease, grubs, etc., but it sounds like drought damage.  Jim
