dog urine spots on lawn

Question
We have bare spots on the lawn of our rental property from the former tenets dogs....how should I treat these spots to regrow grass?  There are also some very green lush spots - any advice on how to make the lawn uniform in length and density?  thanks for the help!!!

Answer
Hi Faden, First check your pH. It should be around 6.5 and add lime if it's too low, sulphur if it's too high. Once correct, start on the proper fertilizer and mowing program based on your type of grass.  Check with your local garden center for their recommendations.
You may need to sow seed or sod but again, when it should be done, depends on your type of grass.  You'll need to loosen (till) the bare spots caused by soil compaction before you plant.
With just a little work, you can have a nice lawn fairly quickly.  Jim
