Comet goldfish

Question
I have a very small pond about 6ft-2ft I have got the water correct for fish.I have just bought 3 comet goldfish 4 days ago and they seem to be quite healthy. They are very shy and hide when I approach and feed them. The food just floats and sinks as they dart into hiding. Can you tell me if they are eating at all and how long will it take them to become more brave when I am there?

Answer
Dear Pauline,

Thank you for your question.
It can take up to some days before they come to eat.
However I can advice to place some shelter items in to the pond.
Then the fish can get to hide if they want to and will be more relaxed in time.
This is due to the tress.
Every time something happens around the pond fish get scarred and seek hide. However when there is no shelter they get more stressed and will die in the future.
So personally I think best way to go is to place shelter like rock, plants, etc. and approach the pond very slow and relaxed.
In the future this will go better and better.
Also make sure the pond is not in full sunlight or artificial light for long.

Kind regards and happy pondkeeping,
Raf
