ground cover nightmare

Question
moved into this house in August, so now i get to see what's growing for spring.  This is my 1st house and i think the previous owner was obsessed with ground cover, it's everywhere and creeping into our lawn.  it's time for some new mulch around the foundation of the house can i cover the creeping ground cover and apply mulch?  i have been pulling ground cover for what seems like forever, HELP!!  just want to know can i start over?

Answer
Hi Trina,
Thanx for your question.  I am always loathe to use chemicals, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.  I would get some Roundup and just apply it according to the directions on the package.  It will do the trick plus it biodegrades within 24 hours.  Bear in mind, if you get Round up on any living plant, it will either kill it or at least severely injure it so, don't apply on a windy day.  Give the plants a couple of days to die and then you should be able to pull them up easily and start over.  I hope this helps.
Tom
